SITUATION
East Mississippi Electric Power Association (EMEPA) recognized the critical importance of fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. To achieve this goal, EMEPA sought to strengthen trust between employees and leadership.
BACKGROUND
To gain a deeper understanding of employee communications and workplace culture, Narrative12 conducted an all-embracing survey among EMEPA's leadership team. The survey revealed a widespread feeling of disconnection among employees in different district offices. Employees expressed a desire for more localized news, increased recognition for their contributions, and stronger communication with leadership.
APPROACH
Our team developed a comprehensive communications strategy designed to build on EMEPA's strong service history and highlight the positive impact of employees on the cooperative and its members. Under the theme "Our Powerful Difference," the strategy included a series of deliverables, culminating in a launch event featuring an engaging video starring EMEPA employees. Supporting materials were created to explain the initiative's purpose and goals. The centerpiece of the strategy was an internal website developed by Narrative12. This user-friendly platform provides employees with access to EMEPA news, information, an "Employee Spotlight" section, photos, videos, and essential cooperative documents. To ensure timely updates, employees received text messages with links to new content.
RESULTS
"Our Powerful Difference" is a resounding success. The initiative is not only boosting employee morale but also fostering a strong sense of community and collaboration within EMEPA. By providing employees with a platform to connect, share, and feel valued, Narrative12 helped lay the groundwork for higher levels of employee engagement, innovation, and customer satisfaction.
